The Department of Management Studies (DMS) was established after the approval of University Grant Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The two year full time MBA programme was launched in November 1997.DMS is a University Department under the Faculty of Management located in Bhimtal-a satellite town of Nainital, is situated in the Himalayan foot-hills. Bhimtal is gradually emerging as an educational hub with several national and state level research centres.

Apart from education, DMS also lays emphasis on overall personality of students. Seminars, guest lectures, group discussions and presentations are regularly held to enhance the all-round personality of the students. Also, there is a rich tradition of stage shows, fairs, sports, games, fetes, and other cultural activities. All these activities add colour and vibrance to the campus life. Industrial visits and excursions are regularly organized to provide exposure to students and make the curriculum more meaningful. We also have a student council that is run by the student representatives, thus providing students a platform to come together and discuss various issues with the faculty members. The council members are responsible for different portfolios and work for the development of the same.

The library is housed in a fully furnished and adequately equipped big hall. The department has a vast collection of books of all the streams of management. National, International journals, newspapers and business magazines and periodicals provides student good exposure to current developments at global and local level. The books related to the subjects are provided to the students for the whole programme thus making it easier for the students to learn the concepts being taught in the class.

The class rooms are well furnished and designed to assist faculty student interface in a better way. The audio- video aids such as LCD projectors are available in classes for making learning experience more interactive, meaningful and lively.

The department understands the importance of computer education and power of internet. The Computer Center has 75 computers with latest configuration connected with LAN and has continuous internet connectivity (FTTH Broadband with speed upto 200 mbps). The students have easy access to the computer center at all times on working days. Apart from this the whole campus is Wi-Fi thus making it easier for the students to avail the internet facility anywhere in the campus. We also have a dedicated uninterrupted power supply (online UPS) systems hence power cuts are never an issue.

The department has a well-furnished auditorium and conference hall for conducting guest lectures and seminars. The auditorium has a seating capacity of more than 200 and is equipped with latest audio-video aids for facilitating a better interaction between the speaker and audience. The department has two generators with 15 KVA and 30 KVA respectively for power backup.

The department provides separate high quality hostel facility for boys and girls. They have adequate sports facilities for various types’ indoor and outdoor games. Electric generators in hostels provide 24 hours power supply to students residing in hostels.

The Department has pioneered management education in the region and has established itself as the foremost and most sought after Department imparting management education in the region.
